To change the PHP version for your web hosting account, follow the steps below:

  • Log in your cPanel account.
  • Under the Software section look for MultiPHP Manager, click on it.

This is where you can set the global PHP version for your entire account. Whatever set in here will be the default PHP version used by all your domain names and subdomains. You may choose a separate PHP version to be used for a specific section of the web site. Refer to the screenshot below.

The System PHP Version is the default version for your web hosting account. You can change that one by choosing one of the available PHP versions then click on the Apply button.

Alternatively, you can have a different PHP version for each of your websites (if you have addon domains in your account) or subdomains. To do that you need to select the website or subdomain from the list and then choose a PHP version for it from the drop down menu and click on the Apply button.

You can also control the settings of each PHP version. That is done by creating a custom php.ini file. You can create a global php.ini file or separate custom php.ini files for each of your websites. That will allow you to configure PHP as per your custom requirements so your PHP application can perform at its best.
